Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

As part of MEAM 347 at Penn, the junior year lab class, we were tasked to build some kind of wind-based energy generation system. We decided to build a 3-blade Lenz style turbine that can harvest energy from both drag (like a Savonius) and lift (like a Darrieus). We test a small scale prototype in a wind tunnel to gain dimensionless data and then proceeded to build our full-scale model.
